Live And Leave A Dream!

Once we finished our praise break at the beginning we found out that as a little boy growing up in Detroit and being 6’8” tall Aaron wanted to be a baseball player.

When Aaron was about 9 years old his dad recognized that he and his brother had some talent and placed them in organized sports.  His introduction to basketball came in high school with him being 6’5” as a freshman! It was his high school coach that asked him some very thought provoking questions that ultimately led him to take basketball more seriously.

Coaches sell players based on their grades, character, leadership and the last thing is how they play basketball.  What Aaron brought to the table was far greater than what he did on the court.

Aaron’s tip for the youth that want to get recruited…Be good at having conversations!

Aaron’s desire was to play at the highest level possible regardless of the sport.  He made his decision as to which college to attend very logically.  Buffalo had way too much snow.  Now it’s Los Angeles versus Oregon!  Oregon was on Aaron real tough!  Knowing that he would actually play at Oregon and not be red shirted sealed the deal.  It definitely was a culture shock coming from Detroit to landing in Portland, Oregon!

After playing for Oregon his freshman year the coaches that recruited Aaron were fired.  The new coaches sat Aaron down and stated that he wasn’t a fit for the direction that they were going.  Aaron’s AAU coach would handle his recruiting and ultimately connected him with Scott Drew who was coaching for Valparaiso at the time and currently Baylor!

Aaron is in support of the transfer portal from both the coach and the athlete perspectives.  First off, the transfer portal is not black and white.  It allows those involved not to get taken advantage of.  Back in the day it took an act of Congress to get you out of your letter of intent.

There is no easy process to ascend up the latter.  The work is still the work.  Everyone starts at the bottom and has to grind their way up.

His senior year at Valparaiso was really weird.  Looking back on the situation the mature Aaron would have helped everybody to focus back on what the goal was and focus on their role in the goal to make the goal come to fruition.

Tips from Aaron on finding Mr. Right:

1. See their intentions

2. Have a filtering process - A man will go through the process for the one that he believes is worth the process!  (FIRE)

His new book is a call to action to awaken the hero that is inside of everybody.  The everyday hero is someone who inspires others to do the exact same thing! The DNA that was in GOD is in man.

Refresh your prospective and go be everything that God called you to be.

Our ancestors left us an example or a dream!  We have to get back to what does it mean to live and leave a dream!

Putting a bow on the conversation Aaron wants you to know that it’s okay to pivot!  Pivoting allows you to be more affective in what you desire.  Pivoting allows for a better angle to achieve the goal and to get to the destination.  When you understand that it’s okay to pivot you give yourself the freedom to realize it’s okay to explore!  Along with being consistent then you will end up in the places that you desire.
