DON'T CHASE THE MONEY!
Feb 12, 2024🎙️ Like many boys his age, Cameron wanted to be in the NBA. However, since he was a bit height challenged, the NBA wasn’t the reality.
🎙️ Cameron would go on to play basketball at a Division 3 college because of his love for the game. A lack of playing time as well as he and some coaches not seeing eye to eye, Cameron would pivot to running track where he knew he could have an impact. Cameron is thankful to his parents for exposing him too many different sports.
🎙️ Calling yourself an athlete means you have the ability to do what is needed for the sake of the team. Travis with Colorado was able to play both sides of the ball which is HUGE. The goal is to be available for whatever your coaches need from you. This mindset makes you that much more valuable at the corporate level as well.
🎙️ Literally everything from sports has transferred into Cameron’s corporate life. Teamwork, flexibility, and being calm under pressure are the critical skillsets from sports.
🎙️ As a coach, you’re really helping the athlete to get ready for life since only a small percentage of your athletes will make it to the league. Coaches are actually building up the next generation of leaders.
🎙️ When it comes to time management. Cameron encourages athletes to keep the main thing the main thing! Ultimately, the goal is the degree. College is the best place to learn how to manage distractions.
🎙️ Cameron would graduate with sports management and communication degrees. Once Cameron graduated he strategically ensured that every move was building his resume surrounding sports.
🎙️ When it comes to relationships, Cameron puts them into two buckets… transactional and relational.
🎙️ Everybody loves a story! People need a reason to buy into your brand. Find what connects with your demographic.
🎙️ His goal was to work for the best! Therefore, Cameron is living his best life in his dream job.
🎙️ Cameron believes it’s more important to enjoy what you’re doing rather than chasing the money. If money were not an issue, what would you want to do for the rest of your life?
🎙️ Networking has been a key ingredient to get Cameron to where he is today. It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.
